Big yard, need landscaping tips?

HELP PLEASE..
It’s a corner lot, alittle less than a half acre; flat land (Alabama) very hot, very little shade

Evergreens far off in the distance, gives privacy and looks magnificent, green shrubs, burning bushes, azaleas, wild rose bushes, in 3’s, 5’s or 7’s in a grouping in front of the house and spreading out past the house to pull the house and landscape together, lots of bulbs planted to come up every year, and get perranials to edge the bushes. Looks absolutely beautiful. You won’t want to leave your yard.

Well, how big is big? An acre? and also, is it a hill, or flat, and what region do you live in? All these things come into play in fixing it up hun.

Try hgtv.com. They have all the gardening & landscape shows on that site. Plans, pics, plant types for your area, care instructions for everything you choose. It’s great.

you can try putting a pond in your yard with a little bridge to go over it with some shade trees around it, and put some koi fish in the pond. Maybe a stone or rock waterfall that flows into the pond. You can also do those three tier ponds that you can buy the kits for. Try a garden with trees, small shrubs, stones, lights, statues, benches, and a little swing. If you wanted extend your driveway and make it a half moon shape and then put trees as borders and maybe mall shrubs and or flowers, with lights in between to show it off. Hedges to put against your house or make bushes your border along your property line instead of a fence. You can put up that lattice fencing against your house with some climbing roses on it. Or get the archway thing and use it for climbing roses. there is tons of things to do, you just need to get a catalog like four seasons nurseries and find things you are interested in and start planting. Find things that suit your lifestyle, if you have kids work around that too. The ideas I suggested above are what I am doing to my yard for the most part. Just draw out a plan of your yard, and start sketching. But if you plant trees, you need to know what their spread is and how tall they get so you know where to place them and how far apart from other trees.
