How to Sell a House During a Financial Crisis
Turn Bargain Hunters Into Gold Mines
Yes, you read that correctly. Because house prices have plummeted, we’re seeing masses of buyers looking for cheap deals. What you need to do it present a property in such a way that generates a great deal of competition between these bargain hunters. There are a number of ways you can do this. The easiest is to offer a very competitive price for a very upmarket property (or a seemingly upmarket property), and hold an event-style mass showing that generates a feeling of style and contest.
Act Unaffected By The Economic Crisis
People aren’t stupid, especially people buying houses during a recession. They expect you to be desperate for an offer, and they know that most people are willing to severely undercut their property’s value. You cannot give the impression of desperation! That’s why dressing your house up and holding a mass showing event is such a good idea.
Advertise With Confidence
This is probably the most important part. Your advertisement needs to be original, exciting, and it needs to have a sure “wow” factor. Stay away from the N word (negotiable), as it will merely give people the feeling that they can knock thousands off your asking price. Now that I think of it, make sure to get a respected valuer to give you a price range, and pick a number from the top end.
