Some painters charge by the square feet and others charge by the hour.The best way is to charge by the square feet.

You need to figure out what they want done, removing all the old paint with a high pressure washer, then primer, maybe as much as two coats, are you going to use an airless sprayer which is the best and fastest, then a coat or two of paint, then how much masking you will need to do and the trim of course, with all that I would go by the hour. Just make sure you explain all the steps to them so they don’t have any suprises.
